What is a Merit Badge?
A merit badge is an award in Scouting that recognizes a Scout’s knowledge and skills in areas like first aid, camping, or robotics. All badges help Scouts explore new interests and gain valuable life skills, but some, such as Eagle-required badges, are especially significant because they mark important milestones on the path to Scouting’s highest rank. These badges show dedication, responsibility, and leadership growth. Earning merit badges not only celebrates achievement but also helps shape character and confidence for the future.
